Jedrzejek Jets to 2nd MSA Win at Sandusky
by Chris Meyers
The PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest Supermodified Association returned to Sandusky Speedway for the second time in three weeks for Reed’s Salvage night. At the first show, Timmy Jedrzejek appeared to be the class of the field, and tonight, the storyline was no different as the four-time MSA champion continued his dominance at the storied ½ mile oval.
London, Ontario‘s Mark Sammut and Sandusky, Ohio‘s Jack Smith led the twenty-one car field to the green flag with Sammut wasting no time taking over the lead. Brandon Fisher took his machine to the pits on lap three. Sammut’s lead didn’t last long as Bobby Dawson motored to the lead on lap four. By lap five, Charlie Schultz had worked his way up to fourth from his eighth place starting spot. Timmy Jedrzejek would follow Schultz into the top five on lap six. The race played out in very quick fashion with several three wide passes involving the top-ten and several lapped cars. The top five continued to be Dawson, Sammut, Henes, Schultz, and Jedrzejek as a seventeen lap green flag run ensued.

July 11th “King of Wings” event could set regular season car count record at Oswego

By Oswego Speedway
Four months of hype are just about over as the first ever $10,000 to win “King of Wings” supermodified event is set for the Oswego Speedway on Saturday July 11th. Thirty eight race teams from MSA, ISMA and the Oswego Speedway have pre-registered and are set to do battle for the richest first place check ever offered for winged supermodifieds. The historic racing night is sponsored by Burkes Do-It Best Home Centers, Community Bank, N.A. and AT&T.
As the month of June passes into July each group of teams will have one last race before the big July 11th date at the Oswego Speedway. MSA will have done battle at Sandusky Speedway in Ohio on June 27th, Oswego teams will have run the Jim Shampine Memorial on July 4th and ISMA will have run their annual Tuesday night affair at Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut on July 7th. Each of these events will serve as one last chance for the thirty eight pre-registered teams to get their equipment ready to chase that big $10,000 check at the Oswego Speedway on July 11th.

Crashin with Crazy Chris 6/24/09
by Chris Meyers
After a winter hiatus, “Crashin with Crazy Chris” is back for the 2009 supermodified season. This week’s article is going to be a little bit different from last year’s columns. I’ve been thinking the last four days about how to go about writing this article on two of the greatest people in the supermodified community. This past Saturday night, the PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest Supers took to Lorain County Speedway for a 40 lap feature event. After it was all said and done, Randy Burch was back in victory lane in the ACME Racing 49. This was his first win with ACME Racing and his fourth career supermodified win. I was introduced to Randy and his wife Rhonda around 6 years ago at Sandusky Speedway. I happened to talk to Rhonda during a week in June about building a website for them. I met Randy at the track that week and then talked to Rhonda that night as well. From that point on, these two special people became an instrumental and valuable part in my life.

Burch Blazes to 4th Career MSA Win at Lorain County

By: Chris Meyers
Middleburg Heights, Ohio driver Randy Burch has always been a fan favorite. He has earned the respect of the entire supermodified community for his professionalism on and off the track as well as his dedication to the supermodified division. After piloting his own supermodified for the past few years, Burch decided to drive for Steve Stout and ACME Racing in 2009. After struggling with some bad luck the past few years, Burch wasn’t going to be denied Saturday night at Lorain County as he picked up an overdue PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest Supermodified Association win.

By TOM PURFIELD
THE PUEBLO CHIEFTAIN
Several elements make this the fastest class of car to ever run at the track
The prefix indicates something grand.
In the case of SuperModified race cars, it’s well-deserved.
SuperModifieds, which look like Indy cars on steroids, will make their only appearance of the season Saturday in a special event night at I-25 Speedway.

ERA supers set to invade I-25 high banks

by John Davidson
The Englewood Racing Association(ERA) returns to I-25 Speedway on Saturday June 20th. Located at Exit #108 Bragdon, North of Pueblo and South of Denver off Interstate 25, the aptly named I-25 Speedway is 1/4 mile high banked oval.
Last year’s ERA event was lost to rain and never rescheduled. Hopefully mother nature will shine on this year’s event.
Supermodifieds routinely top 100 mph down the straight aways at most tracks and I-25 will be no different. Davey Hamilton set the track record in 1992 with a lap of 10.480 seconds, averaging over 89mph.
Veteran ERA pilots expected to be on hand include; Defending ERA Champion Rich Castor Jr, teammate H.J. Evans, Pueblo resident and former Champion Johnny Pickard, Joe Priselac, Stevie Gallegos, Harry Stone and Paco Morales. Newcomers looking to make their mark include; Larry Lapoint & Chris Scheil in the Skip Mikula owned #33.
The Englewood Racing Association was formed in the early 60′s to promote racing at Englewood Speedway in Englewood, Co. The speedway closed in 1979 but the supermodifieds keep the tradition going and still race under the ERA banner to this day. The ERA holds the distinction of being the oldest sanctioning supermodified body in the U.S.
Pit gates open at Noon. Grandstands open at 3pm. Time Trials to start at 4:30pm and racing to kick off at 5:30pm.

Rookie Chris Sheil Debuts in a Super Modified

Chris Sheil Racing Media
Denver, CO. – 2007 Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association (RMMRA) Champion Chris Sheil made his debut in the Skip Mikula owned Englewood Racing Association (ERA) Super Modified on Saturday June 10th at Colorado National Speedway outside of Denver.
After hot laps, Sheil was so impressed on how fast and on how well the car handled. As a rookie in the Super Modified division, Sheil started in the back of the 8 Lap Heat race and finished an impressive 3rd.
With 13 Super Modified starting the 25 Lap “A” Feature, Sheil started in the back. Sheil worked his way up through the field and at one point he was running in the 5th position. With a couple of caution flags during the feature, Sheil Super Modified was starting to over heat and pulled into the pits, and finished 11th.
Sheil will continue to run the Super Modified when it won’t conflict with the RMMRA Midget schedule. Sheil will complete this weekend at I-25 Speedway in Pueblo, CO. with the RMMRA Midgets in the Mike Crissinger owned Ellis/Esslinger pavement Midget. Sheil is sponsor by Bell Racing.
